Join us in a peer discussion about Trauma Couples, led by Ellen Gregory, LMFT, a marriage and family therapist with 21 years of private practice experience with couples.
Ellen has a unique niche – couples where one or both partners have experienced trauma. The trauma could be new and recent within the couple (infidelity, other betrayal, on-the-job trauma) or it could be from the past (relational trauma from childhood including co-dependency and addiction, abuse, assault, incidental trauma, sudden loss). These couples present with a challenging experience as one, or both of them, have a dysregulated nervous system, and can be highly reactive to one another.
Ellen’s training combines the systems dynamics of her marriage and family therapy masters education, internal family systems and somatic experiencing approaches to psychotherapy. Couples therapy focuses on understanding and regulating the nervous system, shared regulation, strategies for healthy communication, creating healthy boundaries, reducing distress, understand how unconscious wounded parts are alive today, create and atmosphere of cooperation and compassion and rebuild trust and connection.
If anyone wishes to discuss a case, please forward a brief description at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. Attendance capped at 10.
